Drums are the essence of every club production and so Mutekki Media sends its next Sampling CD specialist Drumcodes into the race. With over 1900 samples, thematically clearly structured into folders 8bit, Bass Sounds, Bassdrums, Claps, Snares, Cymbals, FX Sounds (tonal as well as non-tonal), Loops (subdivided in BPM, Loops Mixed, Music Loops, Percussion Loops and Guestloops by Patrick Zigon), Minimal Percussion, Rim Shots, Sequences & Riffs, Shaker, Synth Shots, Textures, Tonal Sounds and a library of the analogue drum-synthesizer legend TR-808, this collection offers everything needed for a fat drumming in the fields of Minimal, Electro, Tech House and allied genres. The people behind the selection, production and refinement of this all-in-one drum specialist are Jürgen Driessen and Peter Jürgens two club producers, who through their years of experience know which drums set dancefloors on fire.

Drumcodes Vol. 1packs in over 1900 dance sounds, mostly drums, including individual drum hits, TR-808 hits, BPM-marked Loops, FX shots, bass sounds. synth shots and sequences, and ambiences. Mutekki Media are a distributor of the Vengeance sampie CD series, which are synonymous with quality dance sounds, so fans will be glad to hear that the first of the Drumcodes series is of an equally lofty standard. Every sound seems to be about as tight bright and punchy as possible. Even the 8-bit folder sports dozens of sounds that seem to just jump out at you. 10/10

Mutekki Media bietet mit der Sampling-CD „Drumcodes Vol. 1" eine Basisausstattung in Sachen Drums und Per­cussion für die Genres Mini­mal, Electro und Tech House. Die beiden Produzenten Jürgen Driessen und Peter Jürgens haben insgesamt 1.900 Einzel­sounds und Loops zusammen­getragen und fein säuberlich nach Instrumenten wie etwa Kickdrum, Snare oder FX sowie nach Tempo geordnet. Zusätz­lich finden sich auch einige mehr oder weniger abstrakt gehaltene Synthesizer-Sequenzen mit im Bunde und ein großer Schwung Samples der Roland TR-808, die sich gerade im Bereich Electro immer noch großer Beliebtheit erfreut, ist ebenfalls mit an Bord der Sample-Library. Das Sam­ple-Format ist WAV. Hier findet sich den Genres entsprechend natürlich fast nur synthetische Kost. Die Qualität ist eher ge­mischt. Viele der Librarysounds klingen druckvoll und frisch, an­dere fallen hingegen klanglich leider etwas ab. Schade dass einige Einzel­klänge leider nur unzureichend freigestellt sind, so dass man beispielsweise im Hintergrund einer Kickdrum ab und zu noch eine leise Snare oder HiHat hört. So etwas sollte eigentlich nicht passieren, denn so können die Produktionen schnell verwa­schen klingen. Ein weiteres Pro­blem liegt darin, dass sich viele der Einzelsounds klanglich nur minimal von anderen unterschei­den. Angesichts des gewählten Genres verwundert diese Ähn­lichkeit in der Klangästhetik aber auch nur bedingt. Insgesamt hätten wir für den Preis dann doch mit etwas mehr Liebe zum Detail gerech­net. „Drumcodes Vol. 1" bietet dennoch einen guten Querschnitt durch die elektronischen Drum-sounds heutiger Club-Musik mit geradem Beat.
